'Tis the season

Harvest began this week (or rather, last Saturday). This is our third time around now, and I can honestly say it's one of my favorite seasons of work. Which is kind of overstating things, since I do very little of the work.

As usual, it began at the home place. This year there are two (very, very old) semis!

It's also the season of picnics. A major highlight of each day is bringing the noon meal out to the field. For the first time ever, we let Jonathan stay on the field after lunch (i.e. during nap/rest time). He, of course, loved it. Anna felt a little put out.

Ramont and Jonathan head out to the elevator.

And Anna gets a turn in the combine with Opa.

All but the first two photos are taken at the most beautiful fields we rent, near Delft. It's like working in a park.

Anna learns the ropes in the combine,

and gets a ride with me in the truck.

Really, what a life!
