The last of harvest

Well, after a long series of calamities with equipment this fall, the harvest is in. Wow, it really was a bit rough: combine, Kenworth semi, combine, blue truck, brakes on the other semi, and one last big fall-out with the combine.

Just for the record, I did NOT (seem to) cause the combine problems. Oh so very luckily, the last two big ones happened a few hours after my dad had taken over again.

I did make my combine-driving debut this fall, and wow, what fun! No more piddly jobs for me! (ha, ha, very much so yes.)

I also did some stalk-chopping (or stop chalking, as we usually end up calling it) and some disking. This fall we've been able to take the kids along a bit more, though Anna often still needs to get dropped off at Oma's. She really has gotten to know our kids well this fall :)

Here Jonathan gets ready to disk with me...he could not get enough of tractoring these last few days. Yesterday he was in the tractor with me for about an hour after lunch, half hour faspa, and then almost 5 hours straight in the other tractor with Opa. This morning we were right back at it - and he even turned down a trip to the John Deere dealer with Opa to stay in the tractor with me.

 Always observing. Almost always commentating.

This was actually our very last harvest picnic this year - at our house.

And that's the end of that.
