...and the kids had to get it good and played in.
Since we got a late start, but really more because we wanted to swim in a pool and warm up in a hot tub, we stayed for night in a hotel near Madison, WI. It really is a fantastic way to break up a longish trip.
Ramont's sister Ravonn, Rudi, Greta and Sophie were our hosts in Bluffton. Greta is a master train track builder (which Jonathan still speaks of with awe), and the cousins helped her do amazing things in that room. Greta and Sophie are such good players with our kids, who now have really fun memories of Ohio.
And Ramont got to discuss his plans/dreams with people who actually get into it and ask good questions!
The highlight, as always, was the Christmas Play with Grandma Schrock's incredible, custom-made costumes. Such fun!
The time together wasn't long (enough), but it was spent well - visiting, eating, playing games (the others did, that is), and so on. Ravonn is a most effortless-seeming host (like her mom!) and so it all felt very relaxing.
And then once we got home, the kids got to dig into the glitter (and books and costumes and activity books) that came along home. The nice thing about the short time away was that Jonathan had plenty of school vacation days to spend at home.
Just a few photos of neighborly gifts: sweets and...
dairy-rich yummies.
Indeed, a hearty thanks to everyone for all the lovely gifts again this year!
