Last day of preschool

Yesterday was Jonathan's last day of preschool, complete with a closing program. It seems like a bit of a milestone: last day of the first (half) year of school.

He sure has learned a lot in the last four months: the alphabet, numbers, writing his whole name, countless songs with important lists (days of the week, months of the year, etc), the names of Disney princesses and superheros, some new things to say and do when mad, and also some new ways to react well when disappointed.

I think he became closer to this friend, Ben, who is also a neighbor and fellow churchmate.

And he seems to like being on stage. Each of the 22 children said their name, a favorite something, and what they want to be when they grow up. Lots of firefighters, police officers, doctors, a designer, some artists, a ninja, one queen, a planter, and two farmers - yes, one of those was a Harder Schrock.

So now it's home to farming full-time for the summer.

We've had some dry, warm and windy days mixed in with the cool, wet ones.

The apple, apricot, and plum trees have blossomed, and the garden is mostly planted.

The toes have been cleaned,

and so we can say: Welcome, summer!
