Spring Tea

Yesterday was a most exciting day in our household. Jonathan's preschool class hosted a Spring Tea for parents and grandparents (and smaller siblings). Jonathan has been telling - and Anna asking - us all about it for weeks now. And when we walked into the classroom for the last hour of their morning session, after they had baked, practiced, been instructed and otherwise prepared, the excitement was palpable - and so impressively restrained, as they all sat in their seats and smiled at us.

We first did a craft together, painting glue over tissue paper onto a glass with a candle in it. Anna and Jonathan took turns pasting the tissue paper onto his.

Mrs. Bartsche, at right (above) is the amazing teacher.

Before we came, the kids had made monkey bread and lemonade to serve at the Tea. Here the preschoolers (and Anna) line up for seconds.

And then they lined up to give a program (about 10 minutes) of little rhyming stories and songs with lots of hand motions.

Anna was, of course, enthralled and dreaming about when it would be her turn. Seems like she'll have an easier time than Jonathan did, since she's already learning everything along with him - the alphabet, writing her name, names of teachers, Disney characters (ugh), rules, and so on.

It was a fun morning, and a great opportunity to get inside the classroom and catch a glimpse of how it works.

This week has been rather eventful (in small ways), so I'll post more photos very soon.

(hint: calf!)
